Profile: Durango is the first approved son of the enormously talented stallion Zirocco Blue VDL. With Jur Vrieling, Zirocco Blue is enormously successful winning the World Cup qualifier of Oslo and the Grand Prix’s of Geesteren, Melsomvik , Copenhagen and Vestfold (second year in a row). Grand sire Lux jumped at Grand Prix level and won the Triple Crown. He is the sire of many good jumpers, like Utascha and Tornesch. Lucky Boy xx was one of the key improvement thoroughbreds used in the sport horse breeding, especially if found in the mare line. Examples are offspring Calypso and Van Gogh. Durango is from a proven mother line with many ‘predicates’. 

Dam Narona carries ‘Ster’, ‘Preferent’ and ‘Prestatie’. In addition to Durango she is also dam of the 1.35m jumper Silvio. Granddam Rebekka is ‘Ster, Preferent and Prestatie’ and is dam of the international jumper Opstalan’s Power. From this dam line also come the international jumping horses and approved stallions Torlando, Roadrunner, Uleika and Bon Ami. 
Durango is a pleasant and appealing stallion showing much balance in his canter. He jumps with good reflexes, is very careful and has a lot of scope. He demonstrated these qualities during his stallion test passing with a total score of 81.5 points. He received for his canter, rideability and character 8.5’s, and for all the other jumping elements 8’s. Durango was reserve Champion of the Fall Stallion Test. 

In the Stallion Competitions he performs well. As a four year old he was the winner in Deurne and placed 3rd in Zuidboek. In the finals he placed 4th. At six he went clear in Ermelo and Roosendaal, finishing third and fifth. Durango already made his international debut and ended up fourth in the six year old class at CSI De Wolden and eighth in the 1.35m final of CH Beilen. 
Durango gives a great type with lots of blood and his first foals also made good impressions. They are very well developed, alert foals with good expression. Jackpot was Champion of the Provincial Foal Show of Flevoland and in 2013 Irango was in the final of the Dutch Foal Championship and finished in 7th place. 
Durango has a thoroughbred rate of 48.63%.
